Antenna Coupling Effects in Handheld and Mobile Applications, Mikhail I. Dyakonov, 9783639156089

Description

This work analyzes antenna coupling effects in smallwireless handheld and mobile devices.Further it provides suggestions how to minimize them.Modern communication devices have to support severalstandards, while the total system and PCB size needsto be decreased. This results in rising mutualcoupling. Demands for improved receiver sensitivityand limited transmit power aggravate the requirementson separation of the systems.Part 1 presents information about standards, wavepropagation on PCBs, fundamentalsof 3D electromagnetic FEM simulations and S-parametermeasurement basics. Part 2 dealswith the results from the simulation of simpliedmobile phone boards. Part 3 presents the measurementresults of selected congurations. It is shown that the optimization of the antennapositions provides an option to relax demands to theneeded lters. In addition modications to the PCBare introduced which signicantly improve decouplingbetween the antennas. The author was born in 1981. After the graduation he studiedInformation Technologies at the Technical University of Chemnitz.Since the examination he works in the area of software defined radio.
